WATER ROCKETRY

Total prize: Rs 7,500

Mission :

The mission is to design a Water Rocket Vehicle capable of reaching the highest altitude possible given specific launch criteria.

While promoting Space Propulsion Awareness, the Water Bottle Rocket Competition serves to familiarize students with the basic principles of rocketry, design engineering, and manufacturing engineering. Students will design and manufacture a water rocket using a 2-Liter bottle as the pressure vessel.

Rules and guidelines:

  • Each team can have a maximum of 3 members.

  • Only one model is allowed per team to use throughout the competition.

  • Models are not allowed to interchange between the teams.

  • Maximum of 2 litre bottles are allowed.

  • Do not use metal, glass, or spikes to construct the rocket. *Use of these materials will automatically disqualify the team from the competition.*

  • Only water and air should be used as the propellants and no adding of chemical reagents.

  • Innovative designs are welcomed and if the model is found not safety it will be disqualified.

  • Launchers will be provided by us and the participants are also allowed to bring.

  • parachute landing is not allowed.

  • For 1 litre bottle max psi allowed is 30.

  • for 2 and 2.5 litre bottle max psi allowed is 40.

Prelims:

  • The team hits the maximum distance will move to the second round.

  • Top ten teams will be qualified to final.

Finals:

  • In this round pressure will be decided by the participants.

  • The rockets are launched in 90 degree and the endurance is tested.

  • The model stayed longer in air is declared as the winner.
